JHMD

In central Europe, in the ancient cultural landscape of South Bohemia, the Jindřichohradecké mistni dráhy a.s./JHMD operates a narrow gauge network with a total length of 79 kilometres. It is a railway that still serves the inhabitants of this area, in their daily lives. The regular traffic is all provided by trains, hauled by diesel-electric locomotives. This is especially true for the northern route, line 228, from Jindřichûv Hradec to Obratañ, where this kind of traffic prevails. On the southern line 229, however, there are predominantly seasonal tourist trains and steam-hauled museum trains. Special trips of groups of tourists and railway enthusiasts with historical rolling stock, together with some freight traffic, complete the rich offering of the JHMD.

About this interesting railway we published our brand-new picture book in December 2013. It is in size A4 square, with 144 pages and 141 pictures in large size. The Photos are a fine selection from 14 Photographer´s archive´s. You can order it » here «.
